Repressing Emotions is a Big Part of the Problem

by Graham

I think repressing emotions is a huge part of the problem of depression in men. I grew up in a family that pretended that emotions didn't exist, and inherited a lot of shame about being sensitive and emotional. This led to massive insecurity and depression down the track. I now make it my mission to hang out with more emotionally open people, and be more conscious about allowing my feelings to be and to express them.

Based on my experience, I've written some suggestions for other guys struggling with depression.
