This is my story.i really pray it helps someone as it helped me.I suffered from depression for many many years. my doctor had me on meds for this everything from serzone ,amytryptelyne, to most recently {3months ago now }paxil.I also suffered terribly from restless leg syndrome, so was also taking clonasapame for this.Taking all this was in itself depressing. I couldnt take the clonazapam at work on the graveyard shift as it makes you want to sleep. It was to say the least a horrible situation. Id prayed for a long time that there would be a cure for rls.One weekend I was telling my sister-in-law about this and she gave me 6 tablets of mag. citrate. she said it would help ,ok right I thought. I took them for 2 days and no I mean no rls trouble at night. So I went and bought some at the grocery store. now for the really good part. I took them every day one capsul 3 times a day. After about 5 days I experienced a strange sensation starting from head to feet, like a mild electric shock not at all unpleasant. The best way I can describe ti is almost like a realignment of your entire system.I also felt really euphoric, very happy I immediately thought this isnt normal for me.I decided to try something drastic to see it this actually cured my depression. I quit my 25 mg of paxil cold turkey, something your not supposed to do.I did this because I needed a abrupt and definative line to guage my attitude and mood and mental state.bottom line is I feel better now than I did on any antidepressant I was ever on. Ive been off them now for almost 3 months. 1 take my 3 magnesium capsuls daily. I can sleep through the night without kicking my wife to heck. I can work my 12 hour graveyard shift and sit and relax. I canride on an airplane or as a passenger in a car and not have that nagging ache in my legs as before. But best of allmy mental state is good I feel it and it reflects in my approach to all I do and how I think. An added bonus is the Magnesium is way cheaper than the antidepressants. AMEN

My friends. I too have been suffering from depression, anxiety. That feeling of hopelesness took over myself. I too started taking vitamins and omega3's, felt good but as soon as I addes magnesium to my diet I feel great. If I do start to feel down I have the strenght in me to fight it off. I refuse to be a victim to mood disorders! I am no victim! take your life back and fight!!!

I'm sensitive to sulfates and can not use magnesium sulfate, Epsom salt. Sorry about that.

Type of magnesium NEW
by: Trish

I'm sensitive to sulfates so iI can use epsom salt, mag. sulf. I've been taking magnesium oxide, citrate, apspartate combo. Its a ... product. I have been researching and found that mag taurate and orate are better absorbed and a found a ... product that contains that type. You have to be careful to check the ingredients because you really want to avoid and additional like vit d and calcium which are so often in.

Never quit your journey. God's on our side. Take time to listen.

An answer to prayer NEW
by: Trish

I've suffered from asthma, depression, rls, weight gain, chronic fatigue, celiac's disease progressing from one ailment to the next. I know that my body was to function as a whole and for 10 years I've told my husband that I will find the answer to the core problem. He is so supportive of and has never accused me of being crazy. (Though I've wondered myself.)
A short background - I think that my problem goes back to undiagnosed diabetes incipidus. I've always urinated 20 plus times a day and in high volume. I've been tested for diabetes type 1 and 2 but those is different than what I have, so it was not diagnosed until a year or so ago. The answer is a nasal spray to regulate kidney function, ddavp. Anyway I believe that my excess mineral loss started as a child and has gone on unchecked.

My epiphany happened this past weekend. I had nausea and vomiting and other cold/flu symptoms. Then the RLS started with a vengance. Literally I slept no more than 10 minutes at a stretch for 3 days. There where periods where I couldn't sit for more than 5-10 mins all day and night. My body was broken and my mind was broken. I cried and I prayed. We have magnesium that we take and I found that it helped with the RLS in the past. I started taking it. I got some relief. I took more it worked. I kept taking it in doses throughout the day. RLS went away.

Here's the shock- my brain feels awake. My body is coming to life again. I feel thing and see thing differently. I think that this is the core issue for my body's problems. I am so thankful to God and all who take the time to share their stories.

Depression and Mood Swings NEW
by: Anonymous

I had been experiencing terrible mood swings, irritability, and depression to the point where it was almost too painful to exist. Trying to contain all that was proving exhausting. I was in a healthfood store and saw a powder you add to water that's a magnesium supplement. It said will help you relax and be less stressed. I thought, yeah right but then thought what the heck! I didn't expect it to work but it did. Within hours, my irritability and depression lifted. I did some research on magnesium deficiencies and I believe I had one.

Thank You NEW

by: bellacookie

I was very encouraged by your story. I would like to ask, could you tell me if the magnesium you were taking was the citrate or the sulfate?
