I am in control of my life

I'm a sophomore girl in high school and have been in a battle with my depression since the beginning of the year. What I have been through is overwhelming. Let's see...my best friend moved to a different school, my grandpa died, my dad got diagnosed with cancer, and I fell out of my group of friends and became isolated & antisocial for quite some time. I'm happy to say that I am in the process of turning my life around. Sure a lot has happened, but I realized that my biggest battle was with myself. It all starts with taking control of your life. Count your blessings because there is always someone with a case 100x worse than yours. Depression can be a dangerous cycle, you CAN get yourself out of it and put a stop to it.

I have learned to move on from that past friendship and to stop living in the past. I realized I could have done so much more if I just simply focused on making the most out of right now. No matter how out of control your situation is, you DO have control of the present. I pray for my loved ones and I am becoming more open in establishing good relationships with new friends. This life is short, enjoy yourself while you're living and keep it simple. And if you're going through a rough time, hang in there. No one said you have to be depressed, only yourself did.

But I'm here to say that it is possible to conquer that helpless voice inside your head that says there's no point in living. Everyday's a new day and you can make the choice to turn your life around before it's too late. There will be bad days but just know you're not the only one, everyone goes through them because it's human. Go out there, be somebody, and live.
